Abstract
art is a virtual composition of forms, patterns, colours and textures. The
style does not represent any concrete figure or subject but makes an aesthetic
view for its viewer. Since its inception in the late 19th Century, Artists
began to incorporate unconventional patterns and forms in their
artworks. It is believed to have originated in the 19th century however
many art historians suggest that Abstract art existed as early as cave
paintings.
Kandinsky, Delarunay and Mondarin are considered the
pioneers of Abstract Art. The ideas of Abstract techniques have been used by
artists to experiment and explore the concepts beyond the canvas and our
physical reality.
Every
artist has explored the concept of abstraction in its own way hence one can
only perceive particular features and characteristics of an artwork by
understanding its movements, textures, brushstrokes etc. Viewers can percept
multiple meanings to one artwork which makes it even more interesting.
The
popularity and admiration for the art style lies in its versatility which continues
to evolve even today. The limitlessness of the varied genre has enabled artists
to represent their personal thoughts and feelings without the need of direct representation.
It provides a sense of artistic freedom
where anything from spirituality to materialist to psychologist can be explored
through imaginative application of colour, line and form.
