Abstract art is a virtual composition of forms, patterns, colours and textures. The style does not represent any concrete figure or subject but makes an aesthetic view for its viewer. Since its inception in the late 19th Century, Artists began to incorporate unconventional patterns and forms in their artworks. It is believed to have originated in the 19th century however many art historians suggest that Abstract art existed as early as cave paintings.   Kandinsky, Delarunay and Mondarin are considered the pioneers of Abstract Art. Life of Raja Ravi Varma

Born in April 1848, Raja Ravi Varma is considered to be one of the greatest painters in the history of Indian Art. Known as the 'Father of Modern Indian Art' Varma's paintings revolve primarily around the great Indian epics- Mahabharta and Ramayana .  Raja Ravi Varma travelled throughout his career hoping to find the inspiration and interesting subjects for his paintings. He showed special interest in painting South Indian women. He often painted his close kin which gained them popularity through his art. Some of his paintings included his daughter ‘ Mahaprabha ’ which her children. The artist beautifully depicted the amalgamation of Indian subjects with European techniques.
